Freeport Harbour Company is pleased to welcome the La Muralla IV to Freeport Harbour for an extended period of lay up and carry out repairs. The vessel arrived on 18th August and was skillfully piloted by FHC Marine Pilot Cyril Cox under the supervision of Senior Pilot Captain Lee Wallace.
This is a first for Freeport Harbour, to have an offshore drilling rig enter into the port. It took a tremendous amount of coordination and planning in advance of this vessel arriving. The mooring arrangement had to be fortified with 200 and 300 tons mooring bits at the shoreside to ensure that the vessel is secured against storm force winds. The FHC Marine team played a vital role in seeing this through to its eventual reality. This represents an expansion of the potential and possibilities that exist for Freeport Harbour to be able to facilitate Marine and Commercial activities.
