PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Electrician performs installations, calibrations, removal, test and repair of a wide range of electrical/electronics equipment such as power circuits, lighting systems, switch-gear, transformers, starters, controllers, capacitors, transfer switches, electronic power, communication equipment, navigational aids and meteorological instruments.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent trade school diploma.
- Must have completed single phase and or three phase electrical course.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written.
- Good reading skills, visualization skills, good manual dexterity and ability to work well with other team members are necessary.
- Has a detailed knowledge of applied electrical/electronics practices, techniques and the theory and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and controls.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Works on a ladder, scaffolding, bucket trucks, boats, buoys and forklift trucks
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, calibrates and corrects electrical/electronics problems in the power distribution systems, navigational aids, electrical equipment and lighting systems.
- Installs, removes, repairs, overhauls and tests electrical/electronics equipment, both alternating and direct currents, electrical properties such as volts, ohms, amperes/miliamperes.
- Communicates with facilities Foreman/Supervisor to ensure long-term electrical/electronics problems are appropriately investigated with solutions implemented.
- Works to meet current electrical codes and company policies and practices.
- Works closely with facilities Supervisor/Foreman in ordering of supplies and spare parts from OEM, general suppliers, local and international vendors.
- Reads electrical and electronic circuit drawings.
- Performs mathematical calculations to determine proper requirements necessary to install instruments.
- Performs mechanical work associated with electrical/electronics repair, modification and installation.
- Directs the work of, and instructs other electricians/electronics helpers and apprentices.
- Cleans job site and tools. Stores tools and equipment in designated places in an orderly manner.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Facilities Foreman/Supervisor.
PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
WORK CONDITIONS
- Works with paints and solvents.
- Works in areas where heat and fumes may be present.
- Must be able to manually lift 50 lb. objects intermittently.
- Understands and uses all safety equipment and proper protective equipment and clothing required.
- Normal bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting required

- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Check for potential hazards and unsafe acts and to take corrective action.
- Ensure that protective clothing issued by the Company is worn as required.
- Ensure that no person is allowed to work in situations which may be hazardous. In relatively non-hazardous areas certain employees may be permitted to work alone, if necessary, but arrangements must be made to ensure their well-being.
- Ensure the prompt evaluation and expedite the appropriate action on safety complaints and employee comments on health and safety at work.
